Chung-Ang University Convergence Lounge Space Identity
Chung-Ang University 100th Anniversary Hall Convergence Lounge
CLIENT : Chung-Ang University
The Convergence Lounge at Chung-Ang University’s 100th Anniversary Hall was newly established as a forum for professors from various departments to engage in discussions. It serves as a meeting and exchange space for campus experts to promote interdisciplinary research aimed at developing innovative technologies required by future society. The lounge also contributes to fostering a collaborative atmosphere and building infrastructure for convergence.

At a time when the need for interdisciplinary research across various academic fields is more urgent than ever, the space was designed with furniture and interior elements that create distinct yet connected interfaces within one area. This design encourages active and dynamic exchanges among professors, much like the vibrant energy of a university campus, fostering an environment where everyone can collaboratively explore positive futures.

The furniture design moves beyond standardization, featuring modular pieces in various shapes and sizes to represent diverse fields. Each furniture arrangement is designed to be reconfigurable and separable, reflecting the concept of convergence. Walls equipped with boards and televisions are strategically placed to encourage active discussions. Additionally, the furniture positioned in front of the boards and televisions is designed for flexible rearrangement, allowing close collaboration while maintaining individual personal space.

The Convergence Lounge was designed not only for professors but also for students leading convergence and the future. Tables and various spots throughout the space are equipped with convenient power outlets, enabling easy access to the internet and communication, creating a user-friendly environment.
