2005-2009

The Beginning

The Beginning of UX/UI Evolution in Korea

On April 21, 2005, Saltcake embarked on a journey to redefine the digital experience. At that time, Korea’s digital market was primarily content- and function-focused, with UX/UI still in its infancy. However, as digital services rapidly expanded and information content proliferated, the importance of user experience became increasingly evident. Particularly, as leading domestic manufacturers sought to enhance their digital competitiveness, the role of graphical user interfaces (GUI) also gained significant traction.

User-Centered, Intuitive Design

The digital landscape was function-driven, lacking UI/UX designs that reflected user behavior. Saltcake prioritized user experience, crafting intuitive and streamlined designs that made digital navigation seamless.

Optimization for Digital Devices

With limited device compatibility, it was crucial to develop optimized UI/GUI solutions tailored to each device. Saltcake addressed these constraints by creating efficient, adaptive interactions.

Over time, Saltcake moved beyond simple on-screen design and graphics, adopting a more strategic approach that aligned user experience with clients’ business goals. We pursued integrated marketing strategies to enhance communication across diverse user touchpoints, expanding our business with a focus on content marketing and viral campaigns.

Since the early 2010’s, Saltcake has closely followed advancements in AR and VR, predicting their potential in gaming, education, and brand experiences. We explored various interaction methods and experimented with innovative experience designs to create immersive experiences that make users feel present in a physical space.
